on finding time to read:

Friend 1: “How the hell do you find time to read? I can’t remember the last time I read for fun!”

Friend 2: “Yeah, and I don’t even read what’s assigned by Mrs. K.”

Me: *glares*

Friends: *chuckles nervously*

Me: *heaves a humongous sigh*

Friend 3: *attempts to hide grin while staring at the Common Application* “Oh shit, Columbia has a short answer question that asks about my favourite books! I don’t even read!! Zelle, quick, name books that don’t include Harry Potter or the Merriam-Webster dictionary!”

I believe that if you really truly love something, you will always find time for it. Or at least make time for it. And the same goes for people, too. If you truly love someone, you will always find time for him/her.

on book-buying bans:

Mom: “Don’t buy any more books, we don’t have enough space here! You have way too many already!!”

Me: *laughs evilly* “But isn’t a book buying addiction better than a drug addiction? I don’t think it’s a matter of having too many books, I just don’t have enough shelves…”

Here’s a tip. Book buying bans NEVER. WORK. LIKE EVER.

(And Mom, sorry for sometimes losing my shelf control.)
